Computer Science InternAt — Merced City School District IT Department

Opportunity Summary 

Merced City School District offers hands-on opportunities in the Information Technology Department to work along side IT staff as they provide technical support in a K-8 school environment.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

There are a number of opportunities to learn about supporting, maintaining and replacing mobile devices, projectors, PCs, Macs, inventory management, OS and network troubleshooting.

Opportunity Training 

Students will learn how to trouble-shoot computer and network equipment to be able to engage in real work in an elementary educational system IT department.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

There are no acute risks for the student. The risk level is that associated with an elementary school environment. Staff mostly stay within the IT department, though there may be site visits to elementary schools which would be supervised.

Opportunity Application Instructions 

Students should send an email stating what they hope to experience while in the program. They should be enrolled in a Computer Science program at the CSU.
