Volunteer TutorAt — The Preuss School UC San Diego
The Preuss School UC San Diego is a public 6-12 school authorized by the San Diego Unified School District. A large majority of our students come from underrepresented backgrounds, lower incomes, and/or are first-generation. Once on campus, scholars are challenged with a rigorous curriculum while providing a wrap-around variety of supports. As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to work in classrooms as a tutor and are able to engage with students in the learning process. Tutors are welcome to assist in math, science, English, Spanish, and physical education classes.
By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned different aspects of the teaching and learning relationship. This is a great opportunity for those interested in working with middle and high schoolers.
The Preuss School teachers will provide guidance in performing all of the tasks or activities.
Please submit a volunteer application in order to begin the clearance process: https://preuss.ucsd.edu/about-preuss/volunteer-opportunities.html#Tutors... The clearance process consists of a TB risk assessment, COVID vaccination compliance, an orientation, signing of policy forms, Praesidium trainings, and a LiveScan that we cover the cost for. Additional details on how to complete each item can be found on the same page.
