Family Strengthening InternAt — Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast
Under the supervision of the Director of Family Strengthening, the intern will support in the deliverance of high-quality programs and services that will strengthen families and improve the overall quality of life for Community families. A key role of the Family Strengthening Intern will be to build and maintain relationships with families, learn about resources in Orange County, network with community partners, take part in professional development opportunities, support with special events and culminate the experience with an internship project of choice.
INTERN RESPOSIBILITIES:
- Support in implementing a new slate of programs specifically designed to strengthen families.
- Support inputting and evaluating data, and generating reports as needed.
Build and maintain relationships with community partners. - Collaborate with staff, volunteers, parents, partners and other stakeholders to ensure resources are accessible, relevant, publicized and of the highest quality.
- Engage and support community events, community partners, neighborhood associations, parent groups, committees and groups that will raise awareness of the BGCCOC, enhance programs or support the mission.
- Create an awareness of programs, resources, events and community services by doing outreach at the club, schools and community events.
- Assistance with clerical work.
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Family Strengthening
The intern will demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes by:

-Student Interns will participate in a selection of different professional development trainings (roundtable meetings and social work trainings).
-Other duties as assigned by Director of Family Strengthening
Training:
To help the student achieve the learning outcomes, I will support them with the following trainings: Welcome/Onboarding new intern training, biweekly 1:1 mentor meetings, group connection circles, job shadowing, food distribution/food rescue training and overview of assigned tasks. Student Interns will also have a selection of different professional development trainings (roundtable meetings and social work trainings) that they will be invited to participate.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:
1. The student will learn about the communities the agency serves and learn of community resources that are available. The student will appropriately learn to access and refer community resources to club families. The student will also gain knowledge of the populations being served.
2. The student will be able to network and get to learn about other agencies in Orange County and learn to collaborate.
3. The student will learn agency work, departments, policies and procedures.
4. The student will be able to gain knowledge on trainings on topics related to Human services/Social work.
