EHS InternAt — CSUF - Environmental Health & Safety

Opportunity Summary 

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) intern will:
- Shadow EHS staff on a variety of job assignments. Job assignments may include hazardous waste management, food establishment inspections, indoor air quality assessments, and employee training.
- Assist EHS staff in completing job assignments. Intern involvement may include researching EHS topics, collecting data, and assisting EHS staff in the field.
- Complete at least one project during the course of the internship. The intern will work with EHS staff to select a project topic. Past project topics completed by EHS interns have included updating safety signs and posters, conducting an assessment of campus trip hazards, and developing standard operating procedures for EHS operations.

Intern will be supervised by EHS Associate Director, Justine Baldacci.

In person and online training courses.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to:
...identify and correct safety hazards.
...understand federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety.
...develop strategies for communicating and implementing safety programs.
