Learning Outcomes
By the end of the internship, the student will be able to understand how a course is structured in terms of assignments and assignment expectations; better understand grading practices and providing feedback to students under supervision; learn and practice with instructor how to facilitate in class discussion/activities; and finally how to remain compliant with university/state/federal policies regarding FERPA and ethical teaching standards.
Training
To help the student achieve the proposed learning outcomes, I will ensure the student undergoes training via student campus online training modules with in person review from myself in the form of an orientation; provide ongoing weekly meetings to review with the student classes ahead for the week and prepare sessions with them; review student assignments with the student and provide feedback on their grading (and adjust scoring as needed before posting final assignments grades); practice facilitating discussions before class in the form of having student intern develop discussion questions as a starting point; and provide ongoing training in our weekly meetings regarding FERPA and ethical concerns regarding students.
Tasks/Duties
The intern will demonstrate the learning outcomes by reviewing my feedback on their grading attempts and ask questions as needed; come to weekly meetings prepared with tasks completed beforehand; attend all class sessions; host office hours (1 hour per week); complete all trainings as needed/required/assigned; assist in developing discussions before weekly meetings for purposes of assisting facilitating in class discussions/assisting students in class; and regularly ask questions when help is needed.
