Daily Titan Social Media Editor internAt — CSUF - College of Communications
Daily Titan is sponsoring as many as three newsroom staff internships (social media/web production, news design/layout/illustration and multimedia) for fall 2024.
Candidates must have completed COMM 471 or 472 with a grade of B or better OR have two semesters of experience as Daily Titan staff editors. No exceptions are allowed. Interns must be enrolled in COMM 495T or another CSUF internship class.
A 120-hour commitment is required. This equals 8 hours a week for the 15 weeks of the fall semester.
These are volunteer positions, although scholarships may be available to highly qualified candidates to further their educational and career goals in the fields of journalism and communications. Scholarship amounts may be lower for staff editors receiving internship credit than for those who are not also earning academic credit.
Daily Titan is CSUF’s editorially independent student-run newspaper. The Daily Titan editor-in-chief selects and manages students on the newsroom staff. Emily Wilson is the fall 2024 editor-in-chief.
Internship candidates must apply for a staff position by filling out the newsroom application available at https://dailytitan.com/app/jobs/DT%20Application%20Staff%20Application%2.... Send applications to the editor-in-chief at editorinchief@dailytitan.com and newsroom staff faculty adviser Frank Russell at adviser@dailytitan.com.
Russell will provide mentorship and feedback to Daily Titan newsroom interns. Although he cannot select members of the newsroom staff, his approval is necessary for any newsroom staff editors to earn internship credit. In other words, EIC Wilson and adviser Russell both must agree to any newsroom staff internships. If there is any conflict in editorial judgment, the EIC’s views prevail.
