Opportunity Summary 

Support the ACS Road to Recovery Program through community outreach, program assessment, and community management. Collaborate with staff partners to maintain strong relationships with community groups, ensuring program awareness and availability to their members. Engage in volunteer outreach, working closely with staff to increase volunteer numbers and participation.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this internship, participants will have gained a robust set of skills and experiences that will prepare them for a career in community engagement and program management. Interns will develop expertise in: Community Outreach and Relationship Building: Learn how to effectively communicate with diverse community groups, fostering relationships that enhance program visibility and support. Program Assessment and Evaluation: Gain hands-on experience in assessing the effectiveness of outreach programs, using data-driven methods to inform strategic improvements. Volunteer Recruitment and Coordination: Acquire skills in identifying, recruiting, and coordinating volunteers, ensuring their effective participation and integration into program activities. Collaboration and Teamwork: Work alongside seasoned staff partners to coordinate efforts, exchange ideas, and implement strategies, developing strong interpersonal and professional communication skills. Project Management: Learn how to plan, execute, and manage projects, including setting goals, allocating resources, and meeting deadlines. Interns will leave the program with a comprehensive understanding of how to engage with and mobilize communities, along with practical skills in program management that are highly valued in the non-profit sector. This internship provides a meaningful opportunity to make a tangible impact while building a solid foundation for a future career in community and program development.

Opportunity Training 

Students will receive comprehensive training to effectively perform their responsibilities. Each student will meet with an ACS staff partner to learn about the specific needs of their assigned area and collaborate on developing tailored action plans. They will be provided with all the necessary ACS tools and resources to ensure the successful execution of these plans. This includes guidance on best practices, access to ACS’s extensive network and databases, and support in navigating program processes. The training aims to empower students with the knowledge and skills required to make a meaningful impact in their roles
