Beginning ESL TutorAt — Pacific Grove Adult Education (PG Adult School) (PGUSD)

Opportunity Summary

The ESL Program at the Pacific Grove Adult School is in need of volunteers to provide assistance to ESL teachers in class and/or provide one-on-one or small group tutoring for adult English Language Learners (ELLs) at the lowest English skill levels. Additional language support will help our Beginning ESL students learn English, navigate life in the U.S., support their children's learning, and achieve their educational, professional, and personal goals.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals pursuing careers in Education, particularly with a focus on English Language Development, Bilingual Education, and/or Language Arts. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required. If bilingual English/Spanish, the service learner may have the opportunity to work with students who are not literate in English or Spanish and need tutoring in Spanish, as well. Prior experience working with ELLs or basic literacy students (adults or children) is preferred.
