Direct Care InternshipAt — Boys Republic

The intern will be shadowing our direct care staff within the living units of our students. Our students are on formal probation and undergo group, individual, drug and family therapy as well as attend school daily.

Shadow direct care staff and learn the group model of our organization by sitting in daily group sessions.

Tasks:

1. Shadow direct care staff and interact with students
The intern will demonstrate their learnings by being able to articulate our group model, are able to detail the vocational trainings and individual services that our programs offer each student as well as talk about our group model and how it helps our students throughout the program.

Training:

1. Weekly scheduled shifts shadowing our direct care staff
2. Observing Group sessions with students and staff
3. Shadowing staff on documentation within our industry
The frequency of feedback and evaluation is weekly with the direct care staff. The direct care staff also go over safety measures in the intern’s first week with us.

Learning Outcome:

2. Learn the services offered to our students
3. Understand how to engage with our student population in a helping way
