Opportunity Summary 

This is a research assistant and career mentorship position.

Meeting in person twice a month in my research lab
Creating weekly goals
Building accountability with each other to accomplish their weekly goals
Coming to meetings prepared to share their progress and goals
Giving a presentation (public speaking)

Learning Outcomes  

For students exploring a research question/topic, they will be able to...
• Consolidate their interests from a broad general idea to a specific and practical research question
• Conduct a literature review on that specific question using empirical databases (Pollak Library system)
• Connect information from non-empirical sources to empirical peer reviewed sources
• Use Zotero (a citation management system) to create a virtual database of their empirical resources
• Take clear and purposeful notes to create a research spreadsheet
• Outline a literature review based on their research question
For students exploring a career path or graduate program, they will be able to...
• Have more clarity of what they would like to do after they graduate from CSUF
• Navigate different university websites to research masters and Phd programs
• Create a spreadsheet to organize their materials and simplify applying to graduate school
• Identify people to reach out to learn more about their experiences in that career or graduate program
• Start a CV or Resume
