Long-term Impact of the BSCR Internship on Career PathAt — CSUF - College of Natural Science & Mathematics

The Bridges to Stem Cell Research (BSCR) program includes a 7-month training in stem cell biology courses at CSUF followed by a 7-month (2010-2017) or a 12-month (2018-2027) paid internship at Stanford, UCI, USC, and other partnering sites. Over 120 students have completed this intensive experience. Overall, the track record for the program is impressive. However, the program alumni have not been surveyed after the end of their internship. The PSYC 495 intern during Fall 2024 would work with the BSCR staff to get in touch with these CSUF alumni and collect qualitative data on the value of the BSCR program for their career paths. As such, the PSYC 495 intern will create a list of questions to address the above-stated goal, write an IRB proposal, interview all the BSCR alumni the PSYC 495 intern can contact, prepare a thorough report on their findings, and if possible conduct an NVivo analysis.
