Opportunity Summary 

The Front Desk Office Assistant Intern will support Project Rebound by providing guidance and information to students, supporting events, and offering general office support as needed. A significant aspect of this role involves directly interacting with and assisting Project Rebound students, helping them navigate available resources and support services. This internship is designed to offer students the opportunity to develop essential skills in communication, organization, and public interaction within a professional environment. Interns will work under direct supervision from the Program Director Mir Aminy with duties ranging from basic clerical tasks to more specialized assignments that meets the program needs and the student objective learning outcomes..

Tasks:

Interns will be responsible for performing the following duties, which are designed to allow them to demonstrate the learning outcomes:
• Front Desk Management: Greet and assist students, faculty, and visitors, providing information and directing inquiries as needed.

• Administrative Support: Assist with data entry, filing, and maintaining organized records of student interactions and program activities.

• Event Assistance: Support the planning and execution of outreach events and program workshops.

• Outreach Support: Assist in creating and distributing outreach materials, both digitally and in print, to promote Project Rebound’s services and events.

• Student Interaction: Provide direct support and assistance to Project Rebound students, helping them access resources, understand program requirements, and navigate university systems.

• Communication: Handle incoming phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries, ensuring clear and professional communication at all times.

• Task Coordination: Manage and prioritize tasks, ensuring timely completion of assignments with minimal supervision.

Training:

Training
To facilitate the achievement of these learning outcomes, interns will receive the following training:
• General Orientation: A mandatory session covering the mission and goals of Project Rebound, office procedures, and expectations for professional conduct.
• Weekly One-on-One Mentor Meetings: Regular check-ins with a supervisor to discuss progress, challenges, and areas for growth.
• Job Shadowing: Initial shadowing of program assistant to observe and learn best practices in office operations, student interaction, and event support.
• Task Overview and Contextualization: Detailed explanations and context for each assigned task, including the significance of the task within the broader goals of Project Rebound.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate effective communication and customer service skills through direct interaction with students, staff, and visitors.
2. Apply organizational and time management skills in managing multiple tasks and supporting office operations efficiently.
3. Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to handle routine and unexpected challenges in a front desk setting.
