Community Health Student Intern (Fall 2024)At — CSUF - Center for Healthy Neighborhoods

The CSUF Center for Healthy Neighborhoods (CHN) is a community-based facility that will help alleviate education and health disparities in underserved and vulnerable neighborhoods within Orange County.
The CHN is seeking students for academic internship positions as Community Health Student Interns to assist in providing culturally appropriate programs and services that promote education, health, and resilience among low-income children and families.
Student(s) will be working directly with the underserved and vulnerable monolingual Spanish population.
Student(s) will develop and facilitate a weekly psycho-educational group that promotes mental health.
Student(s) will develop and facilitate community-based activities.
The student(s) will assist with community needs and linking them to appropriate resources with follow-up.
The student will assist with the completion of various forms, record keeping, and presentations.
The student(s) will assist with data entry and program development.
Training:
Full training in program delivery, design, community needs, resource navigation, and referral will be provided by the various ASC staff and consultants involved in the CHN and related programs.
Learning Outcomes:
Students will:
-Gain experience in community mental health program development and recognize the components of a successful programming
-Understand programmatic approaches to solve community-specific issues
-Improve leadership abilities in a community setting
-Develop evaluation and critical thinking skills
-Enhance public speaking and interpersonal skills.
-Gain group facilitation experience
-Learn to work with underserved groups
*Must be available twice a week, Monday-Thursday, from 10:00 AM -3:30 PM onsite.
