Opportunity Summary 

Student will be responsible for creating social media and department website posts. They will be expected to proactively define, schedule and execute social media/web posts that will promote department events and achievements. Student will be required to determine events/achievements to cover, write the story, shoot photography and/or video of event/achievement, and post to social media, and electronically transmit story to person posting story to department website.

Tasks:

- Take photos and videos at special events for “Spotlight” section of Department website and COMMunique newsletter
- Develop social media strategy and post strategic content to Department social media
- Organize and collect department media (photos, videos, archival materials)
- Interview, gather, compile and present data on COMM alumni, Department programs, and employers of COMM graduates
- Assist in development-related projects
- Other clerical and editorial support duties as assigned

Training:

Meet regularly with student to discuss and advise on department's social media strategy.
Critique and edit social media posts to further student's understanding of process and best practices.
Hold student accountable to agreed to deadlines and project requirements.

Learning Outcome:

- Create, write and photograph/video a social media post to promote department.
- Effectively collaborate with other group members in creation of a social media campaign.
- Manage and schedule social media content in a timely and effective manner.
