Physical Therapist AideAt — Core Performance Physical Therapy

Opportunity Summary 

Core Performance Physical Therapy is looking to hire an energetic, dynamic, and professional physical therapy aide to work in our fast-paced outpatient orthopedic clinic. Preferably seeking a candidate who is hoping to or is pursuing a career in physical therapy and has a willingness to learn. Experience is preferred, but not required. We are invested in the development of our aides as we prepare them to apply to physical therapy school and pursue their dreams of becoming a physical therapist. There will be an initial training program that includes; learning how to cue patients while they perform therapeutic exercises, learning to use a variety of therapeutic modalities, how to handle fall risk patients, and implementation of plyometrics into a rehabilitative program. The initial training process is supplemented with monthly training modules designed to improve understanding of common diagnoses seen in an outpatient orthopedic setting. In addition to a thorough training process, twice per year aides have check-ins to ensure they are completing the necessary prerequisite coursework required for them to be eligible to apply to physical therapy schools. Currently we have several aides employed that are CSUF students. We require aides to have a minimum of fifteen hours of availability per week, but are flexible with scheduling to accommodate changes in availability that occur during each semester of school.

Aides are expected to support physical therapy care delivery by preparing treatment area, patient, and performing procedures under the supervision of a physical therapist. Specifically this includes educating patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines. Maintaining patient confidence and protecting operations by keeping information confidential. Another important task that aides are expected to complete is maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Training:

Potential Hires will undergo a two week shadow process that will focus on teaching them common basic exercises and how to set up therapeutic modalities. These two weeks will be followed by paid training in which the trainee will patient's one on one while under close supervision of a physical therapist and an experienced aide.

Learning Outcomes:

1) Demonstrate knowledge of basic anatomy concepts and apply them in a clinical setting
2) Learn how to use and apply IFC and TENS while working with patients
3) Demonstrate knowledge of basic Biomechanical concepts and the ability to identify faulty movement patterns
4) Demonstrate an understanding of how physical therapists utilize manual techniques in patient treatment.
