Development Coordinator Intern
Development Coordinator Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic development coordinator to join our team. You will be responsible for organizing and executing events as well as securing the funding needed via donations and sponsorships. Your commitment to developing and supporting the organization will result in the efficient operation of events and the implementation of strategies to procure the funding needed to meet the organization’s objectives.
A successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, a diligent researcher, and a team player. You will be an active participant in developing fundraising plans, maintaining donor relationships, and securing new ones.
Development Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Managing the calendar for the organization, and coordinating and scheduling events and appointments.
- Responding to and resolving inquiries and questions.
- Maintaining a system to record expenses and the use of petty cash.
- Managing vendor relationships and client communications.
- Researching and storing information, and maintaining filing systems.
- Researching, drafting and submitting proposals that help the organization receive funding, and organizing fundraising drives.
- Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Development Coordinator Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Must have transportation and be willing to travel around the local area.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
Training:
Training will include an initial orientation, weekly one-on-one mentor meetings, an overview and contextualization of assigned tasks, job shadowing, skills training, supervised practice with live-work.
Additionally, the following will be conducted:
Explanation of the goals and the methods used to of gather information, and ongoing discussions on the importance of prioritizing and scheduling.
Ongoing job-shadowing for close observation and practice on how relationships are formed and maintained.
Explanation and practice on how to relay information and represent the organization to the public via phone, email, social media, and in-person.
Will provide training on templates and proposals for government and private grants, and the required documents which support the need to solicit funds.
Will provide job-shadowing and support in-person experience to demonstrate the skills needed to effectively address the public and their needs.
