The Life Enrichment Intern, reports to the Life Enrichment Director or LE Coordinator. Responsibilities/Duties include: 1. Supervised one-to-one intervention with Elderly Residents who may or may not have dementia, medical condition or be on hospice. 2. Co-Facilitate Structured Group activities with Dementia Residents, Long term Residents or rehab Residents. 3. Provide verbal tactile cues during groups I.E. crafts, assist to cutting, picking colors. 4. Assist with facilitating programs, setting up activities. 6. Gather and encourage Residents to attend activities. 7. Develop communication with specific residents, visit consistently. 8. Work with the Life Enrichment staff, ask questions, inquire about the aging process, medical conditions. 9. Adhere to HIPAA standards of the facility.

10. Create a project for Memory Care, Assisted Living or Skilled Nursing environments to enhance the lives of the residents.

Skills/ learning process: Learn about aging process, normal vs abnormal Learn how to work with people with dementia Learn teamwork, create relationships with peers/ staff, residents, and families Learn process of planning/ scheduling events, organizing setting up programs, interacting. Learn how to facilitate an activity program in each environment. *Interns will be required before they can begin the internship at Park Vista Health Center

1. TB TEST: to submit evidence of completed TB Test, which may be administered on site, if necessary.

2. Background Test: Interns will provide a background check; will send students and pay for the background check

6. Watch the Federal elder Abuse prevention Film within the first two weeks.

Training:

Training During the intern's training, students will be expected to: 1. Receive daily training on senior programs and activities. 2. Receive one-on-one training under direct supervision of program staff 3. Review internship handbook on a regular basis

Description Of Tasks:

1. Supervised one-to-one intervention with Elderly Residents who may or may not have dementia, medical condition or be on hospice. 2. Help Administrative duties consisting of filing, organizing, helping plan programs, setting up activities. 6. Gather and encourage Residents to attend activities. 7. Develop communication with specific residents, visit consistently. 8. Work with activity staff, ask questions, inquire about the aging process,

Collaborate and implement programs with staff in a senior living center. 3. Identify the symptoms and understand the effects of stroke or dementia. 4. Assist with rehabilitative care for senior living and within the medical environment.
