CalWORKs InternAt — Fullerton College-CalWORKs
CalWORKs interns will work directly with a CalWORKs counselor to learn about providing academic counseling for our parenting students, they will also learn about our collaboration with multiple Social Service Agencies, participate in special events, assist with a course that we have specifically for parenting students, as well as other tasks as assigned.
Tasks:
The intern will learn how to host a workshop and support with facilitating the workshop. The intern will assist with upcoming special events and assist and become familiar with the Counseling course. The intern will learn more about the duties of an academic counselor. They will research student programs on campus and learn more about the Fullerton College catalog. This internship is designed to assist future community college counselors who would like to work with parenting students.
Training:
Our interns will attend an orientation to learn more about this positions. Our intern will meet weekly with the CalWORKs counselor to discuss goals of the internship, responsibilities of your internship and learning opportunities in the inter tasks.
Learning Outcome:
1. identify the qualifications for parenting students who would like to apply for our program.
2. learn more about the academic programs, certificates and degrees offered at Fullerton College.
participate in our Special events for our parenting students.
3. become familiar with some curriculum and software used to teach a Counseling course.
4. Learn more about special programs offered at Fullerton College.
