Opportunity Summary 

Assist and observe with the care, prevention, rehabilitation, first-aid and emergency triage of high school sport-related injuries; for both practice and competition event.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Emergency triage, injury evaluation, care/prevention, injury rehabilitation, emergency action plan implementation, first-aid, medical documentation.

Opportunity Training 

The student will be educated on the multi-facilities emergency action plan and protocols to assist the athletic trainer with all emergency response needs. The student will also be taught medical documentation, specific to a SOAP note in order to complete the preliminary steps of injury evaluation. The student will be tested on anatomy knowledge in order to provide ideas and enhancements to rehabilitation protocols. The student will be trained on OSHA and Blood Borne Pathogen protocols to assist with first-aid emergencies.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Student will be required to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects to waist-height.
