Opportunity Summary 

Tuolumne Co. Behavioral Health offers a wide breadth of internship opportunities and comprehensive training. There are five areas in which to provide services: Crisis, Adult Services, Children's Services, and Full Service Partnership, and Forensic. We serve the Juvenile Detention Facility and the County Jail also. We are a rural behavioral health organization with trauma-informed care and dual-diagnosis approach.

Opportunity Training 

Tuolumne County Behavioral Health provides a comprehensive training the first month of the internship on all aspects related to mental health services with an in-depth training plan. Many of the trainings are online or by computer, while others require direct training by supervisors or staff, and others include shadowing a professional. Students are taught the Electronic Health Record. They also can attend agency-wide trainings if it works with their schedule; for example, TCBH offers an annual all-day Law and Ethics training.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Students are not put into hazardous situations. if there are concerns, they will be accompanied by a supervisor or staff member. Interns do rotate into our supervised homeless camp doing outreach 1-2 hours/week, but there are always two interns/staff and a camp manager present. Trainings on safety are provided.
