Opportunity Summary 

Counseling and Psychological Services strives to provide culturally responsive services to facilitate excellent mental health and well-being for our students on their paths to personal and academic goals. CAPS values social justice through community engagement and challenging ourselves to fight inequality, marginalization, and oppression.

Opportunity Training 

Interns receive 5 full days of training before they start seeing clients including shadowing other clinicians. a. To provide specific learning, training, and clinical opportunities for practicum interns to develop skills in the counseling of university students. b. To expand the knowledge and skills of practicum interns in working with and meeting the needs of traditionally under-represented student populations. c. To develop clinical knowledge and skills to provide culturally competent counseling and therapy.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Practicum Intern is trained on what to do in emergency situations with clients and/or 5150 protocols.
