Behavior Technician InternAt — Addison Behavioral Resources
Job Responsibilities:
- Observe the implementation of one-to-one behavior intervention with individuals with autism or related disabilities in the home, school, and/or community settings.
- Observe intakes with family and master’s level individuals to conduct assessments to determine treatment needs.
- Observe supervision with families receiving ABA services from master’s level Board Certified Behavior Analysts.
- Maintains confidentiality of individuals
- Collects data on sessions run and accurately records data as requested
- Summarizes data for weekly staff meetings and report information as requested
- Assists with the implementation of instruction in accordance with a specific individual’s IEP, IFSP, or IPP, in cooperation with a supervisor, using effective strategies for academic and behavioral success.
- Successfully completes training and/or college coursework as required by ABR
- Demonstrates intervention skills at trainings
- Interface professionally and compassionately with the clients and families, while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Participates in and contributes to in-service training and staff meetings in a professional and collegial manner
- Maintains positive communication and a professional demeanor with colleagues, students, parents/guardians, and administrators
- Completes instructional-related duties as assigned by supervisors, supervising teachers, and administrators
- Implements behavior protocols for individuals during instructional and non-instructional times
- Utilizes instructional and non-instructional times in a professional manner in keeping with administrative guidelines
- Agrees to follow all ABR policies and procedures, and will keep all individuals under his/her care safe and will perform their duty as a mandated child abuse reporter
- Must check e-mail and schedule on a daily basis
- Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: recording any observed changes with or related to the individual receiving services and his/her environment; timely report any concerns or injuries to ABR management (written follow-up may be necessary); maintain confidentiality according to ABR policy; submit accurate and timely timesheets; and other duties as assigned
Training
Successfully complete a mandatory 40-hour training on the principles of ABA, effective assessment and treatment procedures, confidentiality and HIPAA training, ethics, and mandated reporter training, etc. Ongoing overlaps with master's level Board Certified Behavior Analysts and/or Ph.D. level psychologists.
Learning Outcomes
1) Identify functions of behavior that typically maintain challenging behaviors in children with autism.
2) Understand the assessment/intake process for individuals receiving ABA services, as well as what treatment development looks like.
3) Be familiar with what treatment sessions based on the principles of ABA look like and what feedback behavior technicians typically receive during sessions.
