The Communications & Marketing Team ensures that EBDL’s mission, programs, and events reach the hearts and minds of our community through intentional storytelling, digital engagement, and creative promotion. This team turns our message of self-love into visuals, captions, campaigns, and conversations that inspire action.
Tasks:
Student Duties – Communications & Marketing Team (EBDL)
\u2728 Strategic Marketing & Campaign Development
Assist in developing and executing digital marketing strategies to promote EBDL’s events, programs, and fundraising campaigns.
Collaborate with the Events & Outreach Team to coordinate marketing timelines and content delivery.
Research best practices for nonprofit engagement and apply findings to improve outreach strategies.
\u2728 Content Creation & Management
Plan, design, and schedule original content (graphics, videos, carousels, stories, etc.) for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube using platforms such as Canva, CapCut, and Later.com.
Align content with key themes such as self-love, body positivity, mental health awareness, and community engagement.
Write compelling captions and calls to action that reflect EBDL’s tone and values.
\u2728 Brand Consistency & Visual Identity
Use EBDL’s branding guidelines to create promotional materials (event flyers, email graphics, digital ads).
Maintain consistent aesthetics and tone across all digital and print communications.
Adapt messaging to reflect diverse audiences, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and neurodivergent communities.
\u2728 Email & Newsletter Communications
Draft, design, and schedule email campaigns using Mailchimp or similar platforms.
Curate and write monthly newsletters that include event updates, community stories, and donor highlights.
Track open rates, click-throughs, and engagement to improve future outreach.
\u2728 Website Updates & Maintenance
Update program pages, blog posts, and event listings on the EBDL.org website (via Squarespace or similar CMS).
Assist with search engine optimization (SEO) tasks such as editing meta descriptions and headlines.
Monitor web analytics and suggest improvements for layout, accessibility, and user experience.

Track and analyze content engagement metrics across social media and email platforms.
Prepare brief performance reports to reflect reach, audience growth, and campaign success.
Use data insights to adjust content strategies and suggest improvements.
\u2728 Professional Communication & Collaboration
Participate in weekly team meetings and one-on-one mentor check-ins.
Engage in cross-functional collaboration with other intern teams (events, outreach, fundraising).
Practice professional communication via email, messaging platforms, and shared documents.

Training:
Training Provided During Placement
To ensure a meaningful and educational internship experience, students placed on the Communications & Marketing Team will receive the following training and support:
1. General Orientation (Mandatory)
Overview of EBDL’s mission, values, and programs
Introduction to the Self-Love Leaders Internship Program structure
Clear expectations regarding professionalism, hours, and communication
Orientation to digital tools used by the organization (e.g., Canva, Mailchimp, Squarespace, Instagram/TikTok, Google Workspace)
2. Weekly One-on-One Mentor Meetings
Interns will meet weekly with a supervisor or mentor for check-ins, guidance, and feedback
These meetings provide opportunities to reflect on growth, discuss challenges, and adjust goals as needed
3. Team Training Workshops
Bi-weekly team workshops or group calls focused on developing practical skills:
Content creation for social impact
Storytelling for mental health awareness
Social media strategy & analytics
Email marketing and donor communications
Inclusive language & design for diverse communities
4. Job Shadowing & Collaboration
Interns will have the opportunity to shadow and collaborate with more experienced interns, staff, or volunteers to learn by example
This may include co-creating social posts, working on newsletters, or designing digital flyers together
5. Task Contextualization & Purpose Mapping
Each assigned task will be accompanied by a brief explanation of its purpose, intended audience, and connection to EBDL’s mission
Interns will be encouraged to ask questions and share ideas to deepen understanding and foster ownership of projects
6. Work Samples & Templates
Interns will be provided with templates, previous work samples, and brand guidelines to ensure consistency and help them get started with confidence
7. Self-Led Learning Materials (Optional/Recommended)
Interns may receive optional readings, videos, or short assignments focused on topics like:
Ethical storytelling
Trauma-informed communication
Accessible and inclusive design

Develop and implement strategic digital marketing campaigns that effectively promote nonprofit programs, events, and fundraising initiatives across various platforms (e.g., social media, email, and web).
Create mission-aligned digital content—including graphics, videos, and written copy—that engages diverse audiences and strengthens awareness of body positivity and inclusive mental health support.
Utilize communication tools and platforms (such as Instagram, TikTok, Canva, Mailchimp, Squarespace, etc.) to publish and analyze content performance based on key engagement metrics.
Demonstrate professional communication skills in a nonprofit setting, including writing for public audiences, collaborating with teams, and maintaining EBDL’s brand voice and tone across all platforms.
Apply inclusive and culturally competent messaging in digital storytelling to uplift marginalized communities and promote EBDL’s mission of self-love for every body.
