Opportunity Summary 

The student will serve as a Teaching Assistant for either PSYC 202 or PSYC 371. Duties include but are not limited to helping with grading, assisting with lab activities (for PSYC 202), holding office hours, helping develop new assignments, and attending short meetings to discuss these duties.

Learning Outcomes  

By the end of the internship, the student will have experience with and gain a deep understanding of (1) different pedagogical technics, (2) reducing bias in grading, (3) applying psychological theories to class management and student success, and (4) equitable grading practices.

Training  

To help the student achieve the proposed learning outcomes, I will (1) discuss my teaching philosophy and pedagogical technics used in the course, (2) instruct them on how to reduce biases and increase equity when grading, and (3) meet with them weekly to discuss grading rubrics, assignments, and student challenges.

Tasks/Duties  

The intern will demonstrate the learning outcomes by following grading rubrics, assisting with lab activities, holding office hours, helping develop new assignments, and attending short meetings to discuss these duties, and developing their own teaching philosophy.

Confirmation that the student has completed Dr. Goetz's PSYC 202 or PSYC 371 and received an A.
