By the end of this internship, students will have enhanced their abilities in leadership, program management, communications, and public engagement, while learning how to effectively bridge gaps between law enforcement and the community through positive, youth-centered initiatives.
Students will receive orientation and ongoing training from Hollywood PAL staff and officers to support their success. Training will include an overview of nonprofit operations, program facilitation techniques, best practices for youth engagement, event planning basics, community outreach strategies, and effective communication skills. Interns will also receive mentorship on building positive police-community relations and guidance on professionalism, leadership, and teamwork in a nonprofit environment. Regular check-ins, hands-on coaching, and shadowing opportunities will ensure students feel confident and prepared to take on meaningful responsibilities throughout the internship.
Hollywood PAL prioritizes the safety and well-being of all interns, staff, and youth participants. Interns will receive training on emergency procedures, first aid, and evacuation plans. They will be supervised by experienced staff during all programs and events, and all staff will undergo background checks. Hollywood PAL maintains a secure environment with clear safety policies. COVID-19 protocols, if applicable, will be followed. For any off-site travel, transportation safety guidelines will be provided. Overall, Hollywood PAL ensures a safe and supportive learning environment for all interns.
To apply for the Hollywood PAL internship, students must submit a current resume outlining relevant experience and a cover letter expressing their interest in the position and passion for working with youth and community engagement. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview (either in-person or virtually) to discuss their qualifications and fit with Hollywood PAL’s mission.
