Flowserve is seeking a driven individual to join the Mechanical Seal Order Engineering Team as an Intern. An ideal candidate would be working toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Design Technology or Mechanical Engineering and is self-motivated, technically minded, passionate about design and uses a detail-oriented approach to identify and resolving issues that they find.

\n

As an intern your time will be focused between the support of generating mechanical seal design solutions and leading engineering improvement projects that ensure our products continue to delight our customers.

\n

This position will expose the intern to a variety of tasks as they provide support to engineers and designers inside the order engineering team. Sample tasks are product design optimization projects, process improvement, standardization and documentation projects, engineering tool improvement and work with our operations team to ensure quality products are shipped on time.

Responsibilities

\n

    \n
  • \n

    Under supervision, create or revise bills of materials, basic assemblies, and part detail drawings using best practices for tolerances and GD&T.

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Support engineering and design activities for new seal orders, proposals, and change revisions

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Use Lean principles and tools to improve engineering processes

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Identify, specify and complete special product projects within the department

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Provide project management, engineering and design support for manufacturing and product testing projects

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Lead and support product Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) efforts.

    \n

  • \n

Requirements:

\n

    \n
  • Working towards a BS in Engineering Design Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree and within the final 2 years of achieving their degree.
  • \n

Preferred Experience and Skills

\n

    \n
  • \n

    Experience with SolidWorks is desirable

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Excellent computer skills, especially with Microsoft Excel highly desirable

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Project management skills and knowledge are also desirable

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    The ability to communicate effectively within a team environment

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Self-motivated to work independently and connect in a team environment

    \n

  • \n
