Anaheim Public Utilities Summer InternshipAt — CSUF - Center for Educational Partnerships
POSITION SUMMARY:
In collaboration with the City of Anaheim Public Utilities, California State University, Fullerton developed and implemented an internship program designed as a pathway to public sector and utility industry careers.
As part of the collaboration, the Center for Educational Partnerships supports and oversees CSUF student interns who are placed within various divisions in the City of Anaheim Public Utilities department. Under direct supervision of the Center for Educational Partnerships Special Projects Coordinator and the City of Anaheim Liaison, the intern will perform a variety of entry-level professional administrative staff work, gradually increasing in level of difficulty and responsibility as the incumbent receives on-the-job training related to the business, technological, engineering and operational activities of a department.

HOURS: Part-Time, 20 hours per week. Flexible to work evenings and weekends as needed.
SALARY RANGE: $22 per hour
PAY STATUS: Non-exempt
CLASS STANDING: CSUF juniors, seniors, or graduate student
PREFERRED MAJORS: Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business, Finance, Administration, Economics, Accounting, or related field

REPORTS TO: Special Projects Coordinator, Center for Educational Partnerships (thuanguyen@fullerton.edu).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Regularly meet with the Center for Educational Partnerships Special Projects Coordinator to set a work schedule and attend mandatory related career/professional development sessions and progress meetings.
- Develops and maintains strong professional relationships with the City of Anaheim personnel, community partners, and CSUF staff.
- Participate in analytic studies by conducting routine research, identifying samples, and assembling and compiling data in well-defined areas related to administrative regulations, policies, procedures, systems, methods, reports, surveys, and forms.
- Research problems and discrepancies and respond to routine inquiries related to the business and operational activities of the assigned department.
- Effectively utilize the capabilities and functions of standard office software applications such as data management, spreadsheet, presentation, and word processing in completing assigned projects.
- May assist in updating website contents and making suggestions on information layout.
- May conduct field work.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to form meaningful, productive, collaborative professional relationships within the Center for Educational Partnerships, campus departments, and the Anaheim Public Utilities department.
- Reliable, responsible, punctual, and self-directed.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to speak in public and represent the CSUF-Anaheim Utilities Internship Program
- Knowledge of basic theory and principles of organization and management capabilities of standard computer systems, software, and hardware computer software such as word processing and spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of basic methods and techniques of research and management analysis, elementary statistics, data collection techniques, fact-finding methods, and procedures.
- Ability to gather pertinent facts and data, make thorough analyses, and arrive at sound conclusions.
- Apply formulas in computing statistical measures; understand, interpret, and apply pertinent laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; prepare and present written, oral, graphic, and tabular reports.
- Learn the policies, processes, and procedures related to the assigned department.
- Experience with customer service techniques for public contact in person, on the phone, and in writing.
- May travel to partner sites regularly.
- Must be able to pass and maintain a clean livescan check.
EDUCATION:
- Currently enrolled undergraduate juniors and seniors or graduate students who are in good academic standing at CSUF with upper division or graduate level course.
- Preference will be given to undergraduate seniors or graduate students in their final year.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Prolonged sitting in front of the computer. Walking, talking, hearing, pulling, bending, carrying 10-20 pounds of objects/material, not exposed to extreme noise level, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands or arms, stooping, kneeling, tasting, or smell.
