Events InternAt — USA Water Polo
USA Water Polo Events Department is accepting applications for Summer 2025
Description This is an unpaid internship and to participate you must be enrolled in an accredited college/university and able to receive course credit for your participation. Work will be both remote & in-person.
Tentative Start Date: May 1st, 2025
Candidate should possess:

- Ability to help with event-related tasks; occasionally physical or laborious
- Team player with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize to effectively meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organization/multi-tasking skills and detail-oriented mindset
- Familiar with Google Docs, Sheets, Drive
- Ability to be a self-starter--proactive and flexible
- Own transportation & living arrangements for the location hired
- Water Polo Knowledge is preferred but not required

* Background in membership, non-profit work, sports administration & communications a plus!

Tasks:
\n
Ranging from email & in person customer service to running a scorestable at an event.
Support the Events Department with various on-site projects
Manage registrations for College Coach Meet & Greet that will take place during the Junior Olympics Expo
Assist with on-site event set up and tear-down for events
Help with in-office preparation for events

Training:

Weekly One on One meetings
Weekly office days
On Site event work
\n
- Intern will spend the first week of the internship being trained on our Sport80 membership database & Redeye Email Campaign services
- Intern will spend one day a week in the office working hands-on with our advertising materials making sure to be prepared for any event day issues that may arise
- Intern will have one one-on-ones with myself and the USAWP marketing team on all remote work days to go over that days tasks or follow up on long term projects.
- Intern will work directly with our marketing team on our National marketing campaign rolling out this summer (formerly known as the \\Water Polo Tough\\ campaign)

Learning Outcome:
\n
Run a Youth or Masters Level SPorting Event from creation to implementation
\n
- Ability to handle email marketing campaigns on their own from building the email to identifying who it should be sent out to
- Ability to handle large or small partnership activations at events (Ranging from our \\vendor village\\ during the Junior Olympc to coordinating T-shirt tosses at National Team games)
- Comfortable interacting professionally both on location or virtually with VIPs in the sport (Sponsors, Donors, Olympians)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment & being able to adjust on the fly, assisting our partners with last-second requests
- Ability to scout out a venue to maximize eyeballs & foot traffic to our partners
