Research Assistant Intern At — The Family Life Stages Exploration (FLSE)

Opportunity Summary 

The Family Life Stages Exploration (FLSE) Partnership is a community engagement and research project. FLSE’s collaborative research and scholarship activities are aimed at producing evidence-based methods/practices that enhance the provision of strengths-based individual, family, and community social and faith-based services. The FLSE Research Lab, led by Dr. Shellye Sledge, LCSW, CEAP engages diverse partners to develop, conduct, and disseminate research that involves data collection utilizing interviews, focus groups, surveys and secondary data. The REAP, Why Not Me, and the Lionesses research studies are components of the FLSE project efforts.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

The role and tasks as a FLSE Research Assistant Intern will involve: - Writing of literature reviews/manuscripts - Developing interview questions for focus groups. - Creating surveys using Qualtrics - Assisting with participant recruitment - Performing data management that includes data collection/entry and digital coding using quantitative and qualitative data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, Dedoose, Excel, etc.). - Development and co-facilitation of g focus groups, workshops, and academic presentations.

Opportunity Training 

This Research Assistant position will require completion of the IRB Social and Behavioral Responsible Conduct of Research courses. In addition, this Research Assistant position offers hands-on training, research skill-building activities, and access to professional development and networking opportunities. As a Research Assistant, you will be positioned to acquire essential skills that align with your future career goals in various fields, including research, education, behavioral health, child and family well-being programs, and community, human services, non-profit agencies, research institutes, based organizations.
