Community Outreach and Engagement InternAt — Family Promise of Orange County
Family Promise of Orange County (FPOC) is a non-profit that aims to create a pathway of support for families experiencing housing instability and insecurity. FPOC is one of 200 national affiliates working in our country to end family homelessness. Since 2012, FPOC has helped hundreds of families stand on their feet so that children will never have to experience homelessness ever again.
Position Summary: The Community Outreach and Engagement role is important because it allows Family Promise of Orange County to reach its goals more effectively and efficiently. The Community Outreach and Engagement role objective will be to increase awareness about the organization's mission and programs while fostering strong community relationships. They support community events, volunteer coordination, and outreach initiatives to enhance engagement and expand local partnerships.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Supports the Operations Director in various assignments, including but not limited to:
-Gathering contact information and organizing it in a CRM database
-Assisting with the Community and Client Outreach and Family Promise Mission & Vision
-Assist in drafting emails to acquire resources from local Community Partners
-Attend tabling events to recruit volunteers whenever possible
-Weekly Zoom check-ins with the Operations Director
-Attend work events when you can
-Work in the office at least once a week
-Any other tasks that may arise related to Community Outreach and Engagement.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the internship, the intern will have:
1. Gained experience in Community Engagement and Outreach
2. Gained confidence in speaking with community members while growing in character and as a team player
3. Understand how to use their skills to enhance communication of messages
4. Learn office etiquette and basic administrative duties when necessary
5. Foster innovative ideas and learn how to make them applicable for organizational achievement
Statement of Confidentiality:
It is the policy of FPOC that interns will not disclose confidential information regarding the families, donors, or volunteers obtained through their affiliation with FPOC to any person, including their relatives, friends, and business and professional associates, unless FPOC has authorized disclosure.
Compliance:
The Intern acknowledges that they will have access to organization equipment and intellectual property. The Intern agrees that the property shall remain exclusive to FPOC and is only authorized to use the property when given directions by their supervisor.
Upon conclusion of the internship, the intern will immediately deliver all organization property that is then in the intern's possession, custody or control, including, without limitation, all keys, cell phones, tablets, computer hardware including but not limited to any hard drives, flash drives, external storage devices, laptops, tablets, as well as data, materials, papers, books, files, documents, records and any and all documents or other items containing, summarizing, or describing any proprietary Information, back to FPOC.
Please be advised that FPOC considers refusal to return company property to be theft. If the above listed items are not returned, FPOC will contact local law enforcement. Please contact your supervisor at the end of your internship immediately to arrange for the return of any and all property.
This is an unpaid internship.
The FPOC Intern would not be considered an employee of Family Promise of Orange County, therefore the intern is not eligible for benefits.

Tasks
Duties/Responsibilities:
With the support of the Operations Director facilitate communication between volunteers,
Family Promise programmatic updates, and volunteer opportunities through multimedia
(Instagram, facebook, LinkedIn).
Support the strategic plan of fostering relationships with community partners to ensure
mission impact and impact expansion (including researching local organizations to create a
hub of resources).
Prepares presentations and provides information regarding FPOC programs, events, and
initiatives (using predesign slide decks to create presentations to grasp organizations'
attention to us).
Research local events and represent the organization at various community events, fairs,
festivals, and community presentations. Distribute materials, collect contact information,
and follow up with interested individuals and partners.
Training
Intern will receive a formal onboarding process include presentation of duties and expectations, sign an offer letter, and submit an emergency contact form. Throughout the internship, intern will meet weekly with the supervisor to discuss current tasks/assignments and career development. Intern will also receive midway and end of internship evaluations.
