Veterinary Nursing At — Animal Care Services

Opportunity Summary 

At Animal Care Services, students interested in veterinary science will have the opportunity to experience the day to day procedures of a busy small animal practice. The intern will have the opportunity to participate in clinical nursing skills such as ear cleaning, venipuncture, administering injections, placing of an IV catheter, preparing a pet for an anesthesia procedure as well as the development of their soft skills as it relates to communication with clients as well as the team.

The student will have a good understanding of the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue a career in veterinary medicine

Hands on training and instruction.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

The student will be provided with instruction on how to safely handle and restrain a pet for a procedure. We utilize fear free gentle handling techniques for all our pet patients and the student will be provided resources and training so that they are able to recognize the body language of animals and adjust their interaction accordingly to mitigate the risk of a bite or a scratch.
