Opportunity Summary

Movement Cures Whittier is seeking motivated interns to support our sports medicine and performance programs. Interns will assist with injury prevention, rehabilitation exercises, functional movement assessments, and strength and conditioning sessions. Responsibilities include observing and assisting in patient care, maintaining treatment areas and equipment, and participating in educational workshops and case discussions. This internship offers hands-on experience working with diverse athletic populations under the supervision of licensed sports chiropractors and performance specialists.

Task:

Interns will assist with functional movement assessments and documentation of findings under supervision. They will support the implementation of rehabilitation and performance enhancement programs, including corrective exercises, mobility drills, and strength training activities. Duties will also include preparing and maintaining treatment and training areas, monitoring athlete progress during sessions, and contributing to case reviews and team meetings. Interns will have opportunities to observe manual therapy techniques, assist with basic performance testing (e.g., force plates, speed gates), and help educate athletes on injury prevention strategies. Tasks are designed to be professional and complex enough to provide meaningful experiential learning.

Training:

Students will begin with a mandatory general orientation covering clinic operations, safety protocols, and documentation procedures. They will receive weekly one-on-one mentorship from licensed sports chiropractors and performance specialists, focusing on movement assessments, rehabilitation strategies, and athlete communication skills. Training will include structured job shadowing, hands-on workshops for soft tissue and corrective exercise techniques, and case-based learning discussions. Interns will review literature relevant to sports medicine and athletic performance and participate in supervised performance testing sessions using force plates and speed gates. Regular feedback sessions will help contextualize assigned tasks and support professional development.

Learning outcome:

-Apply functional movement assessments to identify injury risk and performance limitations in athletes of varying skill levels.
-Assist in designing and implementing evidence-based rehabilitation and performance programs under the supervision of licensed sports chiropractors.
-Demonstrate proficiency in soft tissue, mobility, and corrective exercise techniques to support injury prevention and recovery.
