Our Wraparound BSW interns serve in a team-based in-home family preservation program. After a period of shadowing, BSW interns function in a role similar to that of a Behavioral Health Specialist, working one-on-one with children and teenage clients in an effort to improve their behavioral patterns. Interns are part of a team that also includes a Parent Partner, a Facilitator, and a Clinician.
#1 – Demonstrate Ethical and Professional Behavior Interns will commit to their appointments with clients and families. Interns act professionally even in tense situations. #2 – Engage Diversity and Difference in Practice Wraparound clients present a range of diversity and difference with regard to culture, LGBTQ identification, socioeconomic status, and life experiences. #3 - Advance Human Rights and Social, Economic, and Environmental Justice Interns advocate for their clients during family sessions, offering perspective on clients’ needs and experiences. #4 – Engage in Practice-informed Research and Research-informed Practice Interns research outcomes with relation to fidelity to the Wraparound program model. #5 – Engage in Policy Practice Interns can have a voice in changes in Safety Planning Policy. They will also adjust to shifting policy changes and are able to provide feedback in team supervision and in role meetings. #6 – Engage with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities Interns will visit clients and families in their homes, and will build rapport to facilitate effective services. #7 – Assess Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities Interns will participate in face-to-face assessments and intakes. #8 – Intervene with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities Interns will respond to client and family needs during in-home visits, and in response to crisis calls. #9 – Evaluate Practice with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities. Interns will complete notes, engage in team supervision, and debrief crisis situations.

Students are required to use their personal vehicles to meet families where they are at.
