Pay: $21 - $26 / hour\u202f\u202f\u202f

*Part-time availability requirements: We ask for at least 4 weekday afternoons (Mon – Fri, 2:30 – 6:30 pm) OR 3 weekday afternoons plus 1 weekend morning / mid-day shift.

Job Responsibilities
- Implement ABA therapy techniques and interventions
- Conduct engaging one-on-one therapy for skill and social development\u202f
- Set up an exciting environment for the client, complete with therapy materials\u202f
- Attend team meetings to track progress and discuss treatment plans\u202f
- Use data collection tools to measure outcomes\u202f
- Collaborate with the\u202fBoard-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs)\u202fto adjust treatment plans\u202f
- Provide support and guidance to the client's family\u202f
- Document session notes and complete required paperwork\u202f\u202f\u202f
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with children
- Exposure to children/adults with Autism
- Must reside in Orange County
- Ability to work in-clinic, in-school, and in-home settings
- Must be willing to drive 25 miles (average of 30 minutes) from the office\u202f
- Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance
- Ability to be active and sit on the ground for long periods of time
- Willing to complete a TB test and Background screening
- RBT certification preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Korean preferred
- Bachelor's degree or working towards education in Child Development, Psychology, or related field preferred

Tasks:
Provide direct 1:1 behavior therapy in the home, school, community, or clinic environment
Work with clients between the ages of 2-21 across the autism spectrum
Teach skills in the area of communication, social interaction, self-help, executive functioning, cognition, motor, play, and academic skills
Implement empirically-based strategies that are derived from the principles of behavior
Collect accurate and detailed behavior and program data each session to record and monitor client’s progress towards goals
Follow through on directives given by supervisor(s) pertaining to BT responsibilities, performance, and program implementation
Change diapers when working in the clinic setting
Effectively and calmly manage maladaptive behaviors by utilizing approved behavior modification techniques
Deliver effective treatment based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) such as Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Natural Environment Training (NET), and Verbal Behavior (VB).
Performing physical tasks such as walking, running, jumping, standing, sitting, kneeling, bending by the waist, and carrying up to 50 pounds
Work in a team-oriented environment
Work independently and problem solve challenging situations without support when working alone in the field
Effectively communicate parent concerns with supervisor(s) and handle minor issues
Provide training to parents on how to implement Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) and generalize current/mastered skills
Communicate at least twice a month with supervisor/team regarding questions about cases or updates on clients’ progress
Assist supervisor in designing clients’ program
Set and fulfill performance goals for case quality, clinic quality, and billable time
Always maintain professionalism, including professional behavior and attire
Convert all completed sessions by the end of each day
Attend and participate in team meetings, trainings, and check-in meetings as scheduled
Respond to all company communication and administrative requests within 24 hours
Work beyond scheduled shift if needed
Maintain updated auto insurance policy and driver’s license
Drive personal vehicle to clients’ homes/schools/community locations up to 25 miles from the office
Provide minimum availability of 4 weekday afternoons (2:30 PM – 6:30 PM) or 3 weekday afternoons (2:30 PM – 6:30 PM) and ½ a weekend day (i.e., 9 AM – 1 PM)
Training:
Initial Training: 2 weeks of a combination of in-class (lecture, role play) and hands-on training (interns will work with a child with an experienced staff overlapping them).
1:1 mentor meetings: These are held monthly for the first 3 months and every other month moving forward. At these meetings, supervisors give feedback, additional training, and/or career advice. Interns are encouraged to bring up concerns/feedback, request additional training, etc.
Overlaps: Supervisors will intermittently overlap the intern during their sessions to provide additional training and support.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to reduce the rate of problem behaviors by implementing proactive and reactive behavior strategies, teach appropriate replacement behaviors, teach skills across various developmental domains (i.e., language, social, motor, play, adaptive, cognition, executive functioning, and academic), and be able to interact with colleagues and clients in a professional environment.
