The Teaching Assistant for the personality psychology course assists with classroom tasks, grades assignments, and provides student support during office hours. They collaborate with the instructor on course preparation and utilize Canvas to deliver course content and track student performance. Aligned with California State University - Fullerton's mission, the TA prioritizes excellence in teaching, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion. They exhibit strong communication, promptly address student inquiries, ensure timely grade submissions, and remain adaptable to assist students in PSYC 331: Personality Psychology.

Learning Outcomes  

1. The student will demonstrate proficiency in facilitating classroom activities and effectively engaging students in discussions and group exercises related to personality and psychological concepts.
   2. The student will exhibit enhanced feedback skills, utilizing consistent and constructive grading and evaluation methods to assess student performance and provide meaningful feedback.
   3. The student will enhance communication and collaboration skills, working with the instructor to foster an inclusive environment for understanding and applying introductory psychology concepts.

Training  

1. The instructor will meet with the teaching assistant for a 1-hour orientation to provide an overview of course material and expectations/responsibilities.
   2. The instructor will meet regularly (i.e., at least once a week) with the teaching assistant to provide continuous training/feedback and be available to support as needed.
   3. The instructor will implement a feedback process for the teaching assistant via mid-point and final evaluations.

Tasks/Duties  

1. Provide classroom support (i.e., help take attendance, distribute handouts, facilitate group discussion/activities, manage disruptions or inquiries when the instructor is occupied).
   2. Grade assignments, quizzes, and exams based on established grading rubrics; provide constructive feedback on student work to help them understand their strengths and areas for improvement; maintain organized records of student grades and feedback, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
   3. Hold a minimum of one (1) office hour every week to provide additional support to students.
   4. Develop tutorial material for the course (e.g., review guides, study resources, etc.) and conduct review sessions.
   5. Assist with course material preparation (i.e., collaborate with the instructor to develop or update course content and assignments; research relevant psychology topics to provide current examples, research findings, or applications during lectures or discussions).
   6. Assist in proctoring exams and monitor student behavior during exams to prevent cheating or academic dishonesty.
   7. Communicate regularly with the instructor to discuss upcoming lectures, assignments, and student progress.
   8. Attend weekly meetings with the instructor to enhance teaching skills, discuss best practices, and align instructional strategies.
   9. Seek feedback from the instructor and students to improve teaching and support strategies.
   10. Keep track of internship hours (general record keeping).
