Opportunity Summary 

The Social Media Intern will help share the story of what God is doing through Rockharbor Church by creating engaging, on-brand content for our social platforms. This role is perfect for someone who loves taking photos/videos, creativity, and connecting with people online. You’ll gain hands-on experience managing church social media accounts, developing campaigns, and working alongside the Kids team.

Tasks:

The student will:
- Capture high-quality action photos and videos during Sunday services, events, and special gatherings.
- Edit visual content (photos, videos, and graphics) using professional editing tools to meet brand standards.
- Upload and schedule posts on social media platforms (Instagram) with engaging captions and hashtags.
-Collaborate with ministry leaders to gather event details and create promotional materials.
-Research current social media trends and recommend new strategies for audience growth.
-Maintain organized digital files of media content for easy access and archiving.
-Participate in weekly mentorship meetings to review work, discuss creative ideas, and new events need to be promoted.

Training:

Students will receive an initial general orientation to Rockharbor Church, including an overview of our mission, values, and communication guidelines. During the first week, the intern will participate in hands-on training covering brand standards, social media platform tools, photo/video capture techniques, understanding policies around taking photos of children policies, and basic editing software. The intern will have weekly one-on-one mentor meetings with the Kids team to review progress, provide feedback, and set goals for upcoming events. They will job shadow team members during Sunday services to learn live event coverage, including photographing and filming worship, teaching, and community moments.

Learning outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:
- Confidently capture, edit, and publish high-quality photos and videos for social media.
- Apply best practices for engagement, analytics, and content strategy.
- Collaborate effectively with a ministry team to promote events and initiatives.
- Build a portfolio of creative content that demonstrates their skills and growth.
