YouTube Host InternAt — Charlie Chang Media
The YouTube Host Intern is responsible for researching, preparing, and presenting educational and engaging video content for a professional YouTube channel. This role involves collaborating with a creative team to develop scripts and outlines, filming long-form and short-form videos, and refining on-camera delivery to maximize audience engagement. The intern will also participate in content planning meetings, analyze performance data, and implement feedback to continuously improve. This position provides hands-on experience in digital media, communication strategy, and content marketing, giving the intern the opportunity to build professional-level skills in public speaking, research, teamwork, and digital content production.
Tasks
Duties include:
Content Research & Preparation: Research industry-relevant topics using articles, reports, blogs, and competitor videos to build a comprehensive understanding of subject matter. Summarize findings and prepare talking points or outlines for video scripts.
Script Review & Development: Collaborate with project managers to refine video scripts and outlines. Provide feedback to ensure clarity, accuracy, and audience alignment.
On-Camera Presentation: Record long-form video content, practicing professional communication skills including clarity, pacing, tone, and audience engagement.
Audience Engagement Strategy: Learn and apply storytelling techniques to build trust and increase viewer retention. Analyze prior content performance to adjust hosting style based on viewer feedback and analytics.
Collaboration with Media Team: Participate in regular meetings with project managers, editors, and creative directors to align content strategy. Gain experience in cross-functional teamwork and creative collaboration.
Performance Review & Iteration: Review video analytics (average view duration, retention, click-through rate, etc.) to assess hosting performance. Implement feedback from creative directors to continually improve delivery.
Professional Development: Receive mentorship and training in digital media production, communication strategy, and personal branding. Build transferable skills relevant to careers in marketing, media, and communications.
Training
Students will receive a structured onboarding and ongoing training program to ensure they achieve the learning outcomes of the internship. Training includes:
General Orientation: An initial overview of the company’s mission, content strategy, workflow systems, and expectations for the YouTube Host role.
Onboarding & Skills Development: Introduction to script review, topic research methods, YouTube production standards, and on-camera presentation techniques.
Monthly One-on-One Mentorship: Regular meetings with the COO to review performance, provide feedback, and set development goals.
Job Shadowing & Work Samples: Opportunities to observe senior hosts and review sample scripts and videos to understand best practices in digital communication.
Workshops & Feedback Sessions: Training in storytelling frameworks, digital marketing fundamentals, and audience engagement strategies. Constructive feedback will be provided after recordings to guide improvement.
Performance Review & Analytics Training: Guidance on how to interpret video analytics (e.g., retention rates, audience engagement) and apply data-driven insights to refine hosting skills.
