Opportunity Summary 

A $500 educational stipend will be given to those who complete their 40 hours within the academic year in May of 2026. College Students will spend a full academic year (8 weeks in Fall, 8 weeks in Spring) totaling 40 hours mentoring a LBUSD student. This 1:1 support will benefit their academic and personal development. A full year commitment is best practices for mentoring so there is time to develop a strong sense of trust with the mentee and see their growth over time

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Students will have ample opportunity to learn: -Communication skills (active listening, constructive feedback) -Relationship building skills (learning from diverse perspectives, empathy, trust) -Problem solving and conflict resolution skills -Leadership skills -How you apply growth mindset with their mentees -Tutoring best practices -Community centered purpose and passion

Opportunity Training 

Mentoring Training (2 hours) *required Additional resources available depending on personal interest or chosen activity
