Administrator/ITAt — ROBSAG Inc.
The administrator/IT position provides a combination of technical, administrative, and client-focused support within a community-based organization. Responsibilities include assisting with IT troubleshooting and setup, supporting staff during meetings and organizational changes, and accompanying clients with developmental, mental health, or elderly needs on field trips and program outings. The role offers hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary environment and helps develop skills in technology, communication, and client care.
Tasks
During the internship placement, students will engage in a range of professional and pre-professional duties that support their academic development and directly contribute to the organization’s goals. These tasks are designed to allow students to demonstrate competencies in psychology, communication, technical proficiency, critical thinking, and client support, in alignment with program learning outcomes. The primary responsibilities include:
Client Support and Engagement (80%)
Assist in providing day-to-day support to individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, and/or elderly clients under supervision.
Support recreational, therapeutic, or social activities that promote client well-being and engagement.
Practice active listening and use effective communication techniques to build rapport with clients.
Administrative and Operational Support (10%)
Maintain accurate and confidential client records, logs, or reports using relevant software systems.
Assist with scheduling, appointment tracking, and organizing program materials or supplies.
Prepare and distribute internal communications or documentation, as needed.
Technology and Computer-Based Work
Utilize office software (e.g., Microsoft Access, Google Workspace) to create documents, presentations, and spreadsheets for internal use.
Support data entry, database management, or basic analysis tasks that inform service delivery or program evaluation.
Observation and Program Development (10%)
Participate in job shadowing and observe staff during planning, care coordination, or client assessments.
Assist in the development or refinement of client-centered programs or resources by providing input, research, or administrative support.
Training
During this placement, students will receive comprehensive training designed to support and facilitate the achievement of key learning outcomes. The training program includes the following components:
General Employer Orientation (Mandatory): At the start of the placement, students will participate in a structured orientation session that provides an overview of the organization’s mission, values, policies, procedures, and health and safety guidelines. This session ensures that students understand workplace expectations and are prepared to integrate into the professional environment.
Weekly One-on-One Mentor Meetings: Student will be assigned a dedicated mentor who will provide ongoing guidance and support throughout the placement. Weekly scheduled meetings will be used to review progress, provide feedback, set goals, and address any challenges or learning opportunities.
Job Shadowing: Students will have the opportunity to observe experienced staff members as they perform their daily responsibilities. This job shadowing experience allows students to gain practical insight into professional roles, workplace dynamics, and effective service delivery.
