Opportunity Summary 

In this role, you will have a significant impact, providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children and adults with disabilities. 

As a Behavior technician, you will be conducting ABA therapy sessions under the direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or a behavior consultant.

  • Implement behavior intervention plans to target skill development and behavior reduction goals.
  • Utilize evidence-based intervention techniques to teach adaptive skills, promote positive behavior, and reduce challenging behaviors.
  • Collect accurate data during therapy sessions to track progress and make data-driven decisions.
  • Collaborate effectively with the BCBA or behavior consultant, parents, and other team members to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Maintain a welcoming and therapeutic environment during therapy sessions in alignment with our mission and values.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and patience while delivering ABA therapy services.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and legal requirements.

Tasks:

As an ABA Intern/Behavior Technician, you will gain hands-on experience by engaging in the following responsibilities under the direct supervision of a BCBA or behavior consultant:

Conduct ABA Therapy Sessions – Provide direct one-on-one support to children and adults with disabilities using Applied Behavior Analysis principles.

Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) – Carry out individualized treatment plans to support skill development, promote positive behavior, and reduce challenging behaviors.

Apply Evidence-Based Strategies – Utilize teaching methods and intervention techniques grounded in research to foster adaptive daily living, communication, and social skills.

Collect and Record Data – Accurately document client performance and session outcomes to support progress monitoring and data-driven decision making.

Collaborate with the Team – Work closely with supervisors, parents, and other professionals to ensure consistent and comprehensive care.

Promote a Therapeutic Environment – Create and maintain a welcoming, safe, and supportive setting that aligns with organizational mission and values.

Demonstrate Professional Conduct – Exhibit professionalism, empathy, and patience during all client and team interactions.

Uphold Ethical Standards – Follow all legal requirements, ethical guidelines, and company policies while maintaining client confidentiality.

Training:

Interns in this position will receive comprehensive, ongoing training and supervision designed to support both professional growth and clinical competency:
General Orientation – All interns will complete a mandatory company-wide orientation that provides an overview of policies, ethical standards, safety procedures, and core values.

On-the-Job Training & Shadowing – Interns will shadow experienced Behavior Technicians and supervisors to gain hands-on experience in delivering Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, implementing Behavior Intervention Plans, and using data collection systems.

Direct Supervision & Mentorship – A supervisor will always be onsite and present during therapy sessions to provide guidance, feedback, and immediate support as needed. Interns will also have weekly or bi-weekly one-on-one mentor check-ins for continued skill refinement.

Individualized Development Meetings – Each month, interns will participate in personalized meetings with their supervisor to review progress, address challenges, and set growth goals tailored to their learning needs.

Workshops & Skill-Building Sessions – Company-wide ongoing training sessions and workshops will cover evidence-based practices, clinical ethics, and advanced intervention strategies to ensure continuous learning.

Assigned Readings & Literature Reviews – Interns may be provided with professional literature, case examples, and evidence-based resources to contextualize assigned tasks and build a strong theoretical foundation.

Skill Application & Work Samples – Opportunities will be given to practice clinical skills, review session notes, and analyze data under supervision to strengthen practical and professional competencies.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this internship, the student will be able to:

1. Apply Foundational ABA Principles
Demonstrate understanding of basic concepts of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and their application in real-world therapeutic settings.

2. Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
Carry out individualized intervention strategies under BCBA supervision, targeting both skill acquisition and behavior reduction goals.

3. Utilize Evidence-Based Strategies
Apply evidence-based teaching and behavior management techniques to promote adaptive skills and positive behaviors.

4. Collect and Analyze Data
Accurately record session data and use data trends to inform treatment decisions and measure client progress.

5. Develop Professional Collaboration Skills
Communicate and collaborate effectively with BCBAs, consultants, parents, and team members to ensure coordinated client care.

6. Maintain Ethical and Professional Standards
Adhere to ethical guidelines, maintain client confidentiality, and demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and patience in all interactions.

7. Foster a Therapeutic Environment
Contribute to creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive setting for clients that aligns with organizational mission and values.

8. Reflect on Professional Growth
Identify personal strengths and areas for improvement in clinical practice through supervision, feedback, and self-reflection.
