Marketing InternAt — Montebello Housing Development Corporation (MHDC)

Opportunity Summary 

The Montebello Housing Development Corporation (MHDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting affordable housing and empowering communities through education, counseling, and development. We are seeking to partner with Cal Poly to provide marketing interns with meaningful, hands-on experience that connects classroom learning with community impact. Interns will help strengthen our outreach efforts, engage local audiences, and support initiatives that make housing more accessible and sustainable.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned how to plan and execute marketing strategies for a nonprofit organization, manage social media and community outreach campaigns, create engaging content, and analyze engagement metrics to support mission-driven goals.

Opportunity Training 

Student will shadow a current employee or supervisor the first couple of weeks. We can provide training and guidance for office administration duties. For all marketing purposes we provide training on Canva, Constant Contact and social media posting.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

The internship will take place in a professional office environment with standard workplace safety practices. Interns will receive an orientation covering emergency procedures, office protocols, and confidentiality requirements. The role primarily involves computer-based and administrative tasks, with no physical or hazardous work involved.
