Opportunity Summary 

Adult Day Care and intergenerational programming intern

Tasks:

Support activities within the adult day care center (facilitation of activities, research of activities); engage one to one with participants of adult day care; support intergenerational program specialist with design and implementation of activities.

There will always be staff present during activities/engagement. Student will not be providing any personal care or assistance. Student can encourage adult day care participants to engage in the programming, student can help with program development 

Training:

Job shadowing within a multidisciplinary team of an adult day care; general orientation to work with children and older adults in an intergenerational setting. Student will meet with preceptor Anastasia Plyugina, Adult Day Care Director, to review tasks and have supervision as needed. 

Learning Outcome:

1. Demonstrate increased knowledge of the benefits of intergenerational program models
2. Demonstrate increased knowledge of adult day care services
3. Demonstrate increased knowledge of communication with older adults living with Alzheimer's or other related dementia's.
