Youth Development Professional (YDP)At — Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast
Reporting to the Club Director and with direction from the Assistant Club Supervisor; the Youth Development Professional (YDP) will plan, implement, facilitate, and supervise activities and events in specific program areas. YDP's champion exciting new programs in core areas that meet the diverse interests and needs of members, their parents and the community. Interface with volunteers assigned to specific programs to ensure proper application. Promote safety of members, quality of programs and appearance of the Club at all times.
Task:
Following the Boys & Girls Club Program Basics BLUEprint, which will focus on: Our formula for Impact, Principals for Program Planning and Delivery, and Practices for cultivating meaningful programs and experiences. In these areas the student will have opportunities to develop projects and assignments that may be implemented with supervision of staff. In addition to learning techniques and coaching from staff on daily interactions and resources to help with mentoring youth.
Training:
Pass all required background checks and CA Mandated Reporter training. In addition, create a BGCA profile with online training resource Spillet Universtity.
In addition, supervisor will hold weekly meetings to create and discuss SMART Goals that will guide and create projects and tasks for student to complete throughout the semester.
Any additional staff trainings that are scheduled throughout the semester student will be invited to attend.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the internship, the student will be able to:
-Implement Targeted Programs and High Yield Activities created by Boys & Girls Club of America (BGCA).
- Developed classroom management skills
- Learned building techniques to foster mentor relationships with youth from Kindergarten to High School Age.
- Work collaboratively with co-workers.
- Understand the process of daily, weekly and monthly preparation planning.
