Responsibilities may include: • Sales / customer service • Research / marketing • Art handling • Event planning / outreach • Various administrative tasks Tasks chosen will be dependent on the skills needed and the intern’s experience. Interns will be given a great deal of responsibility at the onset and will see how a contemporary art gallery functions on multiple levels. Additional Information: • This internship is unpaid. • Sparks Gallery is located in the Gaslamp Quarter with predominantly paid parking options. Interns who cannot walk or bike to the gallery may apply for parking reimbursement in approved locations. Intern Feedback: Interning at Sparks has been an absolutely wonderful opportunity! I was introduced to the San Diego art scene as well as encouraged and given the freedom to explore particular areas of interest with professional feedback. I particularly enjoyed the process of bringing an exhibition to life: selecting artworks, where to hang them, and putting them up. After meeting amazing artists, working with a gallery team, and learning the ins and outs of the business I now feel confident with my hands-on experiences to move forward in the field. Thank you to everyone at Sparks. - Jackie, UCSD
