Opportunity Summary 

A boutique social media agency that supports small local businesses and emerging CPG brands is looking for a motivated and creative Social Media Marketing Intern. This internship offers hands-on experience in managing real brand accounts, creating social content, analyzing performance, and learning how a social media agency operates day-to-day.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create TikTok and Instagram Reels content using trending sounds, styles, and storytelling.
  • Design social media graphics and story slides in Canva.
  • Write engaging captions that match each brand’s tone and audience.
  • Research current trends, audios, and competitor strategies.
  • Assist with monthly social media reports, tracking engagement and growth metrics.
  • Support influencer collaborations and campaign launches.
  • Participate in brainstorms and contribute creative ideas for client content.

  • Current college student eligible for academic internship credit.
  • Strong understanding of TikTok and Instagram trends.
  • Creative, detail-oriented, and organized.
  • Basic design and editing skills (Canva, CapCut, or similar).
  • Excellent written communication and grammar skills.
  • Passion for marketing, small business, and social media.

Details:

  • Unpaid internship for college credit.
  • Remote position (U.S.-based preferred).
  • Approx. 10–15 hours per week, flexible around your academic schedule.

Tasks:

During the internship, the student will perform a range of professional and pre-professional marketing tasks designed to develop creative, analytical, and strategic skills. Primary duties will include:

Content Creation:

Plan, film, and edit short-form videos for TikTok and Instagram Reels using trending audio and storytelling formats.

Design on-brand graphics, story slides, and visual assets using Canva or similar design tools.

Draft engaging captions and copy aligned with each brand’s tone, audience, and campaign objectives.

Trend Research & Strategy:

Identify and present weekly social media trends, competitor content, and industry best practices.

Contribute creative ideas for monthly content calendars and campaign concepts.

Analytics & Reporting:

Collect and analyze social media metrics (reach, engagement, follower growth, etc.).

Prepare monthly client performance reports with insights and recommendations for improvement.

Collaboration & Client Support:

Participate in virtual team check-ins and brainstorming sessions.

Support influencer outreach or UGC coordination under the guidance of the supervising strategist.

Professional Development:

Maintain an organized project tracker and meet content deadlines.

Receive and apply mentor feedback to refine marketing, communication, and creative skills.

Training:

Student will receive hands-on, guided training throughout the internship to support the outlined learning outcomes. Training will include:

* Initial Orientation: A mandatory onboarding session introducing the agency’s mission, client portfolio, workflow tools, and content creation process.
* Biweekly One-on-One Mentor Meetings: The intern will meet regularly with the agency owner to review progress, provide feedback, and discuss current marketing trends or campaign insights.
* Skills-Based Training: Instruction in content creation tools such as Canva and CapCut, social media scheduling platforms (e.g., Later, Meta Business Suite), and analytics dashboards for monthly reporting.
* Task Contextualization: Each project will include an overview of brand objectives, target audience, and performance goals to ensure students understand how their work fits into larger marketing strategies.
* Work Sample Reviews: The intern will have opportunities to review and analyze past successful client campaigns to understand best practices in social media marketing.
* Ongoing Feedback & Reflection: Constructive feedback will be provided on all deliverables, with opportunities for reflection and improvement to help build real-world marketing competence.
