Theoodore Payne Foundation Native Plant Landscape Care and MaintenanceAt — The Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers and Native Plants
Spend a morning volunteering and work alongside professional Theodore Payne Foundation horticulturists on Wednesdays and first Saturdays. Grounds volunteers maintain and improve the gardens and natural areas of our Sun Valley headquarters, and offer general support in our nursery. Activities range from week to week and season to season, but you can always be sure you'll walk away with new connections to plants and people. Learn from our team, about native plants and our local ecology, while you help us create an even more beautiful and inspiring landscape for our visitors. No experience is necessary, but you must be prepared to work outdoors with plants in changing conditions. Closed-toe shoes and long pants required.
...about native plants in southern california and a bit about their role in our ecological health in addressing climate resilience. Working hands on with native plants, our volunteers learn some native plant and invasive plant identification. Volunteers are shown the activity for the day and watch a trained professional or lead demonstrate. Then they are allowed to shadow and participate in the activity as well. Alternative activities are provided if an individual has a concern or preference to not engage in a certain activity. Activities range from watering plants, planting, digging, weeding, sorting seeds, racking, sweeping, or other garden care.
Closed-toe shoes and long pants required. Ability to traverse uneven, dirt walkways and trails is required.
