Opportunity Summary 

You will gain hands-on experience working alongside tax and accounting professionals that will provide you with insight into the field of Consulting. Your internship will give you the same exposure to ACCNTNT as our Accounting Consultants, while participating in interactive and engaging financial reporting.

During your time interning with us, you'll also have the opportunity to participate in trainings and activities to boost your skills and engagement.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Preferred Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a bachelor's or master’s program in Accounting and/or Business and Economics with a graduation date between December 2026 – August 2027 strongly preferred.

Tasks:

Job Responsibilities:

Transaction review + coding support: Review bank/credit card activity and supporting documents; propose accurate categorization/mapping to the chart of accounts; identify missing documentation and follow up via a structured request list.

Reconciliations: Prepare monthly bank, credit card, and selected balance sheet reconciliations (e.g., prepaids, accrued expenses, loans, fixed assets) with clear support and explanations for reconciling items.

Journal entries + support schedules: Draft routine journal entries (accruals, reclasses, prepaids/amortization, depreciation) and build/maintain supporting schedules in Excel/Google Sheets.

Close assistance: Support monthly close activities by completing assigned close checklist items, updating trackers, and documenting completion evidence in working papers.

Working papers (audit-ready): Create and maintain professional working papers that tie source data to financial statements; ensure clear audit trail, version control, and reviewer notes incorporated.

Tools + systems work: Use cloud accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks/Xero) and Excel/Sheets to extract reports, build pivot tables/summaries, and maintain standardized templates.

Professional standards: Maintain confidentiality, follow documented review procedures, meet deadlines, and incorporate feedback through iterative revisions.

Training:

Student will receive as many as requested and weekly one-on-one mentor meetings, and job shadowing of live mock financial statement reviews, and process implementations.

Learning Outcome:

Explain and map a client’s end-to-end transaction cycle (revenue, purchasing/AP, payroll, banking).

Prepare and post routine journal entries (accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, payroll allocations) with proper documentation and review-ready support.

Perform monthly close tasks including bank/credit card reconciliations.

Use common accounting systems and tools (e.g., QuickBooks/Xero, Excel/Google Sheets, ChatGPT) to clean data, validate accuracy, and produce structured outputs and prepare technical memo drafts.

Support compliance-related tasks such as collecting W-9s, organizing vendor/customer documentation, and preparing a clean package for CPA/auditor/tax preparer review.
