Opportunity Summary 

MerchLabs is seeking a motivated and creative Brand Coordinator Intern to support our marketing and brand management initiatives for influencer and licensed merchandise. This internship provides hands-on experience working across influencer marketing, brand strategy, social media management, and market research.

The intern will collaborate directly with the Brand Manager to assist in campaign development, influencer collaborations, and the launch of new licensed merchandise collections (including anime and other pop culture IP). This role offers exposure to the fast-paced intersection of eCommerce, entertainment, and digital marketing.

Task:

The intern will support the Brand Manager across several key areas, gaining hands-on experience with brand strategy, influencer marketing, and paid media platforms commonly used in eCommerce.

Brand Strategy & Development

Assist in shaping brand identity, voice, and messaging for influencer and licensed merchandise collections.

Support campaign planning and creative concept development for product launches, limited drops, and seasonal promotions.

Help ensure consistency across brand assets, product pages, advertising creatives, and marketing materials.

Collaborate with the Brand Manager to align brand strategy with paid advertising initiatives across Google and Meta platforms.

Social Media & Influencer Marketing

Help curate, schedule, and publish engaging content across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and X (Twitter).

Research and identify influencers and creators for brand collaborations; assist with outreach, onboarding, and communication.

Coordinate influencer campaigns, including product shipments, content timelines, posting requirements, and performance tracking.

Assist in repurposing influencer-generated content for use in paid social advertisements.

Engage with followers and fans through comments and messages to foster community and strengthen brand presence.

Paid Media & Digital Advertising Support

Assist with setting up, organizing, and monitoring campaigns in Meta Ads Manager (Facebook & Instagram), including audience research, creative testing, and basic performance tracking.

Support product feed organization and maintenance within Google Merchant Center, ensuring product data accuracy, availability, pricing, and imagery.

Help monitor product approvals, disapprovals, and policy compliance within Google Merchant Center.

Assist with campaign setup and reporting within Google Ad Manager, gaining exposure to ad placements, performance metrics, and inventory management.

Help analyze ad performance metrics such as impressions, click-through rate (CTR), cost per click (CPC), and conversions, and summarize findings for internal reporting.

Collaborate with the Brand Manager to test creative variations, product messaging, and audience segments across paid channels.

Market & Competitor Research

Conduct research on influencer merchandise trends, licensed IP drops, and emerging creator brands.

Analyze competitor advertising strategies across Meta and Google platforms, including creative styles, messaging, and promotional tactics.

Monitor audience sentiment, product feedback, and campaign performance to identify growth opportunities.

Assist in identifying new audience segments and product categories based on market insights.

Campaign Support & Reporting

Assist in preparing weekly and monthly reports summarizing campaign performance across organic, influencer, and paid advertising channels.

Help maintain marketing and content calendars, ensuring alignment with influencer campaigns, ad launches, and product release dates.

Support cross-functional collaboration with design, production, fulfillment, and customer service teams to ensure smooth campaign execution.

Track campaign timelines, deliverables, and performance benchmarks to support continuous optimization.

Training:

- Initial Orientation: Introduction to workflows, and brand guidelines, including an overview of influencer relations and merchandise licensing.
- Weekly Mentorship Meetings: One-on-one sessions with the Brand Manager to review progress, receive feedback, and set goals.
- Ongoing Feedback: Regular feedback on deliverables and campaign contributions to ensure continuous learning.
- Practical Training: Exposure to tools such as social media management platforms, analytics dashboards, and influencer CRM systems.
- End-of-Internship Review: Final evaluation and debrief to reflect on learning outcomes and professional development

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to:

- Develop and execute brand and marketing strategies for influencer and licensed merchandise lines.
- Create and manage engaging social media content tailored for fan and influencer-driven audiences.
- Understand how to identify, build, and manage influencer partnerships from outreach to post-campaign analysis.
- Conduct market and competitor research to inform brand positioning and product development.
- Analyze campaign performance and derive actionable insights for brand growth.
- Strengthen professional communication, creative problem-solving, and project management skills within a marketing team environment.
