InternAt — Physical Rehabilitation Network
Observe and support licensed physical therapists in an outpatient clinical setting while gaining hands-on exposure to patient care and clinical operations. This role is designed for students pursuing careers in physical therapy or related healthcare fields and focuses on observational learning, skill development, and professional growth. Interns work closely with experienced clinicians to understand evaluation techniques, therapeutic interventions, patient education, and the day-to-day flow of an outpatient physical therapy clinic.
Students will have learned the fundamental principles of outpatient physical therapy practice, including observation of patient evaluations, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions. Students will gain an understanding of common musculoskeletal conditions, clinical workflows, and professional standards within a physical therapy clinic. They will also develop effective communication skills, learn the importance of patient-centered care, and gain insight into the role and responsibilities of licensed physical therapists.
Students will receive training through direct orientation and on-site mentorship by licensed physical therapists and clinic staff. Training includes an introduction to clinic policies/procedures, patient privacy, HIPAA compliance, safety protocols, and expectations for professional conduct. Students are guided on how to appropriately observe evaluations and treatment sessions and how to assist with non-clinical tasks as permitted
