Opportunity Summary 

RKDE is a local production company based in Upland that creates professional video, film, and digital media content. The intern will support ongoing production projects while gaining hands-on experience in pre-production, production, and post-production workflows. This internship is designed to provide practical, real-world training in media production, creative collaboration, and professional industry practices. The intern will work closely with the RKDE production team to assist with content development, on-set operations, and post-production tasks while building technical, creative, and professional skills relevant to careers in production.

Tasks:

Support on-set production, including camera setup assistance, lighting setup, audio support, slate operation, and general production coordination.
Assist with post-production tasks, such as video editing, media organization, basic color correction, audio syncing, and exporting deliverables.
Participate in creative development, including brainstorming concepts, reviewing footage, and providing feedback during editing sessions.
Manage and organize digital assets, ensuring proper file naming, storage, and backups.
Observe and assist with client-facing or project review sessions to understand professional expectations and revision processes.
Maintain professional production standards, including set etiquette, time management, and collaborative communication.

Training:

Initial general orientation covering company mission, production workflow, safety procedures, and professional expectations.
Job shadowing with experienced production staff during pre-production planning, on-set production, and post-production processes.
Hands-on technical training in camera operation, lighting basics, audio capture, and production setup.
Post-production training using industry-standard editing and media management software, including guided practice with real project files.
Weekly check-ins or mentor meetings to review progress, provide feedback, and contextualize assigned tasks.
Task briefings and debriefings to explain the purpose of assignments, expected outcomes, and how work contributes to overall projects.
Review of work samples and constructive feedback to support skill development and professional growth.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:
Apply fundamental production skills across pre-production, production, and post-production phases in a professional media environment.
Operate and assist with industry-standard production equipment and software while following professional set protocols.
Collaborate effectively with a production team, demonstrating professional communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
